A cruise to Venice is truly amazing.. sailing past St Mark’s is breathtaking and sailing past the many Venitian islands..Walking over the Rialto Bridge, Riding a Gondola along the Grand Canal and crossing the many footbridges over the canals to look at the beautiful buildings that make up Venice. See the famous Bridge of Sighs a covered bridge and perfect photo opportunity. Then wander into St Mark’s Square, Doge’s Palace, St Mark’s Basillica where there are dozens of cafe’s and restaurants to eat, drink and listen to string quartets and take in the atmosphere.
There is plenty of opportunity to ride a Gondola with prices set at €80 for about 30 mins..you can even have a singing gondolier. The Black Gondola‘s are the most famous.
It is said that gondoliers are the most well paid Venetians with an income of approx €150,000 euros a year but even this does not give them enough to live in Venice!!
Vaperetto taxi boat or bus the initial charge for merely stepping aboard the taxi boat—is €13, plus another €1.80 for each minute of travel (€1.20 per minute of sitting around idling). Up to five passengers, the fare remains unchanged. You can catch a sighting seeing bus similar to the Hop on Hop Off bus to get around and see the sights. We stayed outside of Venice and the tram was very cheap just €3 euro return (we were 20 mins outside Venice in Mestre) Staying outside is cheaper and so easy to get in.
